The final movie in the Hunger Games trilogy is due out on November 19th and the Tributes (the nickname for Hunger Games fans) are going nuts. And as for the rest of us, we get to enjoy another story shamelessly broken in two just to make more money.
It was bad enough when Harry Potter did it with The Deathly Hallow. The movie world could have had one epic movie, but instead got one kinda pointless movie and another pretty decent one. But Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, the book, was nearly 200 000 words long (that’s an exceedingly long book; about 2.8 times longer than the standard Yong Adult Fantasy novel).
The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay, on the other hand, is just 100 000, which is fairly standard for YA Fantasy and a length of story that could very easily be made into one film. But instead… we need to see two movies to watch one story.
The Hunger Games Mocking Jay: So Good we have to see it twice…?
What happens when they make War And Peace? Do we get the story in 10 films?
To be somewhat fair to The Hunger Games, at least it’s not as bad as The Hobbit. Tolkein’s book was 95 000 words and has been broken into.. three films…? Wow, that’s just greedy, movie producers… shamefully greedy. And of course, the only way they could create the third film was by creating a war that never actually happens in the book!
Still, if we’re to pay any respect to the art of filmmaking, a story which is one story should be one movie. I mean come on, guys. You’re destroying a great book just for corporate greed!
Marvel The Avengers was a truly terrible movie. And now we can all look forward to the next installment: Avengers: Age of Ultron. WTF is an Ultron? No clue, and honestly, I couldn’t care to find out. The Avengers was such a trashy movie, with absolutely zero story. But apparently some people want a sequel. Well, here is it is…
Honestly, Chris Hemsworth saw better scripts when he was working on Home and Away.
An anonymous tip-off in today reported that a new Battlestar Galactica movie may be in development. Our sources state that “Ron Moore [Battlestar Galactica series producer] is back at the helm to create the new movie, penned for 2019.”
Given that Star Wars is likely to fuel a lot of demand for more Sci Fi movies, and that the original Battlestar Galactica was released right in the midst of the Star Wars craze (Battlestar Galactica was released in 1978 and enjoyed box-office success on the back of Star Wars’ 1977 release), this announcement seems to make sense.
Kyra Zagorsky in Helx by Ron moore
Ron Moore is currently working on new TV series Helix, starring Billy Campbell and Kyra Zagorsky. Given his success in the Sci Fi genre over recent years, we’re excited to discover how he’ll go about recreating Battlestar Galactica.
What do you do when you’re disappointed you didn’t win an OSCAR? Apparently the answer is that you call a private investigator to find out just why the hell you didn’t win.
That’s precisely what one public relations firm did when a song they were campaigning for failed to win an OSCAR nomination. It’s one of the weirdest stories in the pre-OSCARs race.
In a classy move, instead of accepting the fact that they didn’t get an OSCAR nomination, the public relations team asked a private investigator to look into the eligibility of a song that DID get the nod. That song was the title track to Alone Yet Not Alone.
So it seems if you can’t beat them, cry and try to discredit the competition.
The private investigator emailed Alone Yet Not Alone’s producers, pretending to be a researcher writing an article about Oscar nominations. The investigator asked if the movie had ever been advertised in print media during its Oscar qualifying run. One rule of the Oscars (2e, to be specific) states that in order to be considered for an Oscar a movie must be “Advertised during its Los Angeles County qualifying run in print.”
So, the Best Song Oscar has been utterly tarnished thanks to one PR firms blunder.

Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Chastain two of the many actors training in meditation, as they prepare for their new movie Rodham.
Meditation training essential for actor training, as Scarleet Johansson and Jessica Chastain Attest
As our readers will know, both Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Chastain have been meditating for many years. Scarlett Johansson gave a famous speech about meditation for the Nobel Peace concert back in 2008, stating that meditation is the best way to create peace (both inner peace and outer peace). Jessica Chastain started meditating on The Tree of Life back in 2011 and has continued her meditation training since.
The Rodham movie tells the story of Hillary Rodham Clinton during the Watergate scandal of the 70s.
As our regular readers will know, meditation is an essential element of actor training. Because actors are required to have great mind control in order to produce the emotions necessary for a role, it is important that an actor start from a point of mental clarity and emptiness, which, of course, is what meditation offers (for more on this visit our free online meditation training website — the link’s at the bottom of the article).
As I myself, and other actors will attest, meditation is one of the most valuable practices for any actor training program. That’s why the best drama schools, like the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, include meditation practice in their training. But what sort of meditation do actresses like Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Chastain do?
Different actors do different types of meditation but the two most effective types of meditation for actors are Transcendental Meditation and basic breathing meditation.
