Dr Seuss’ The Lorax, the book, was originally published in 1972 and is regarded as a fable about danger corporate greed poses to nature. It was released in the same year as a television special and is now brought to DVD with the help of Danny DeVito and Ed Helms. So, does this DVD do justice to the classic children’s book?
Dr Seuss The Lorax is brought to life wonderfully by Danny DeVito
Dr Seuss’ The Lorax tells the story of Lorax a 12 year old boy searching for a rare real life tree in a barren land in order to please and win the girl of his dreams. In his quest, the boy enlists the help of the Lorax, a grumpy but adorable creature who fights to protect its magical fantasy land.
Dr Seuss’ original story is delightfully imaginative. Thankfully, his imagination is done justice with this film. The 3D is beautiful and the primary colours of the film’s palette brings the magic to life. Danny DeVito has put in a stellar performance (he was the perfect choice of actor for the casting dept. to have made) and he pours love and passion into his character, making the Lorax a real joy to watch.
Illumination Entertainment—a new animation house at Universal—have put in such quality work on The Lorax that’s its easy to see them being a challenge to the animated throne on which Pixar now sit. Dr Seuss’ the Lorax is certainly to delight all comers and is strongly recommended.
