The first trailer for Great Expectactions, starring Helen Bonham Carter [Miss Havisham] and Ralph Fiennes [Magwitch], has hit the internet, and if the trailer itself is anything to go by, then this could be an acting master-class.
Great Expectations Synopsis
Great Expectations is set during the time England was becoming a wealthy world power. Pip [Jeremy Irvine] is besotted with Estella [Holliday Grainger], the niece of local crackpot Miss Havisham. Pip is elevated when receiving a great fortune but his elevation sees him shunned by his long-standing love and her manipulative aunt.
Meanwhile, there is the return of the convict Magwitch to contend with, a rough, bedraggled figure with whom Pip shared a terrifying childhood experience…
Great Expectations Impressions
If this trailer[below] is anything to go by, Helena Bonham Carter is about to set the screen alight as the twisted and sinister Miss Havisham, which is just as well, given that Miss Havisham is one of the most important and most famous characters in the history of literature ( surely this is a shoe-in for an Academy Award).
Ralph Fiennes also looks impressively mischievous in his role as Magwitch.
A stellar cast and one of the greatest stories of all time make this one very exciting production indeed. We’ll look forward to the Great Expectations’ release date of 30 November 2012.
