Let’s get one thing straight right off the bat: Lies are an integral part of life.
I’m not talking about big lies here (which I, and most likely you yourself, cannot stand). Big lies hurt people. Little white lies, however, more often than not actually produce a more positive result than the truth. For instance:

White lies; without them we’d offend everybody (and probably get smacked quite a lot too). It’s for this reason that people who tell social lies are actually more popular than those who stick resolutely to the truth. It’s also for this reason that even when you know how to tell when someone is lying, you shouldn’t go busting everybody’s balls for it!

None of these keys are guarantees that someone is lying. As every body language specialist knows, there is no guaranteed answer how to tell when someone is lying. It’s more about determining the likelihood of lying. with that in mind, If someone performs one of these keys in isolation it’s probably just incidental. Always remember that a body language gesture could just be incidental!
How to Tell when Someone is lying: Clues to look for
Reading these body language clues is the best way how to know when someone it lying.
Covering the Mouth: When someone tells a lie, they naturally try to cover it up. There are three ways they do this, of which the first is to cover the mouth. People instinctively hold their hand, or a finger to their mouth as though preventing the words from coming out. This could be very subtle, however. They might just quickly touch a lip. So be watchful!
Covering the Eyes: Another way people try to cover up the lie is by preventing themselves from seeing it. You might notice them quickly covering the eyes, or subtly touching one of them. They’re trying to hard the wrong doling.
Covering the Ear: Similar to the two above, a liar might quickly touch a hand or finger to their ear to try to stop themselves from hearing the lie.
Touching the Nose: Believe it or not, but it’s a scientific fact that when you tell a lie, your nose actually grows. So I guess Pinochio was more than just a movie. What’s important for us here, is that because of the growing nose, a liar will quickly touch the tip of their nose.
Neck Scratch: Lying cause a tingling sensation in the facial and neck tissue and this gives rise to two more clues to lying. First off, when a person lies, the tingling sensation will often cause them to scratch their neck.
