Awesome news. Pixar are releasing a new Toy Story short film called Partysaurus Rex. The short will be shown before the 3D version of Finding Nemo (release date September 14th 2012).
Now, being a grown man I perhaps shouldn’t admit to too much excitement regarding this short film. . .. PAH! Who am I kidding?! I cannot wait to see this alongside Finding Nemo 3D! And I especially can’t wait given how awesome the story sounds.
Pixar have sound a great spin for a short story with Partysaurus Rex. The plot regards Rex, a tyrannosaurus-bath-time-toy who, along with his teddy friends, is stranded after a playtime bath with his new owner Bonnie.
Pixar’s Partysaurus Rex stars a tyrannosaurus who wants to reinvent himself
Director Mark Walch [Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouilee] said, ‘If you’re a bath toy you get really intense playtime. It’s like a party. ‘Then when the water goes down you can’t move. You’re helpless. . . .’
The theme of Partysaurus Rex regards reinventing yourself. Rex, having moved to his new owner’s, wants to reinvent himself as a party animal. Walsch states that his intention with Partysaurus Rex was to show how, “you move to a new town and make new friends and suddenly you think you can reinvent yourself.” So, Rex will represent every person who has ever aimed to create a new persona for themselves.
Partysaurus Rex follows Hawaiian vacation and Small Fry as the latest of the Toy Story Toon series. Given how original and creative an idea the Pixar guys have come up with for this short film, it’s safe to say we absolutely cannot wait to see Partysaurus Rex when it is released alongside Finding Nemo 3D on September 14th. Bring it on!
