Poems About Death of a loved one #1
Charlotte Bronte: On the Death of Anne Bronte
THERE ‘s little joy in life for me,
And little terror in the grave;
I ‘ve lived the parting hour to see
Of one I would have died to save.
Calmly to watch the failing breath,
Wishing each sigh might be the last;
Longing to see the shade of death
O’er those belovèd features cast.
The cloud, the stillness that must part
The darling of my life from me;
And then to thank God from my heart,
To thank Him well and fervently;
Although I knew that we had lost
The hope and glory of our life;
And now, benighted, tempest-tossed,
Must bear alone the weary strife
Poems about death of a loved one #2
James Aldrich : A Death Bed
HER suffering ended with the day,
Yet lived she at its close,
And breathed the long, long night away,
In statue-like repose.
But when the sun in all his state
Illumed the eastern skies,
She passed through Glory’s morning gate
And walked inParadise

T.E Brown: Dora
HE knelt upon her brother’s grave,
My little girl of six years old–
He used to be so good and brave,
The sweetest lamb of all our fold;
He used to shout, he used to sing,
Of all our tribe the little king–
And so unto the turf her ear she laid,
To hark if still in that dark place he played.
No sound! no sound!
Death’s silence was profound;
And horror crept
Into her aching heart, and Dora wept.
If this is as it ought to be,
My God, I leave it unto Thee.

Famous Poems about Life and Death by famous poets #2 Sarojini Naidu : The Poet To Death TARRY a while, O Death, I cannot die While yet my sweet life burgeons with its spring; Fair is my youth, and rich the echoing boughs Where dhadikulas sing. Tarry a while, O Death, I cannot die With all my blossoming hopes unharvested, My joys ungarnered, all my songs unsung, And all my tears unshed. Tarry a while, till I am satisfied Of love and grief, of earth and altering sky; Till all my human hungers are fulfilled, O Death, I cannot die! You start dying slowly When you kill your self-esteem; When you do not let others help you. You start dying slowly If you become a slave of your habits, Walking everyday on the same paths… If you do not change your routine, If you do not wear different colours Or you do not speak to those you don’t know. O how shall summer’s honey breath hold out Against the wreckful siege of battering days, When rocks impregnable are not so stout Nor gates of steel so strong, but Time decays? O fearful meditation! where, alack! Shall Time’s best jewel from Time’s chest lie hid? Or what strong hand can hold his swift foot back, Or who his spoil of beauty can forbid? O! none, unless this miracle have might, That in black ink my love may still shine bright. English Poems About Life #2 Charlotte Bronte: Life LIFE, believe, is not a dream So dark as sages say; Oft a little morning rain Foretells a pleasant day. Sometimes there are clouds of gloom, But these are transient all; If the shower will make the roses bloom, O why lament its fall ? Rapidly, merrily, Life’s sunny hours flit by, Gratefully, cheerily, Enjoy them as they fly ! What though Death at times steps in And calls our Best away ? What though sorrow seems to win, O’er hope, a heavy sway ? Yet hope again elastic springs, Unconquered, though she fell; Still buoyant are her golden wings, Still strong to bear us well. Manfully, fearlessly, The day of trial bear, For gloriously, victoriously, Can courage quell despair ! Pages of Poems About life and Death 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 My own Poems
Continuing our special look at the best good poems about life, we come to some good poems about life from Rupert Brooke, William Morris and Robert Browning. I hope you enjoy these good poems about life. Pages of Poems About life and Death 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 My own Poems Good Poems About Life #1 Rupert Brooke: The Life Beyond He wakes, who never thought to wake again, Who held the end was Death. He opens eyes Slowly, to one long livid oozing plain Closed down by the strange eyeless heavens. He lies; And waits; and once in timeless sick surmise Through the dead air heaves up an unknown hand, Like a dry branch. No life is in that land, Himself not lives, but is a thing that cries; An unmeaning point upon the mud; a speck Of moveless horror; an Immortal One Cleansed of the world, sentient and dead; a fly Fast-stuck in grey sweat on a corpse’s neck. I thought when love for you died, I should die. It’s dead. Alone, most strangely, I live on. Good Poems About Life #2 Cherish life Who Abideth by William Morris Love is enough: cherish life that abideth, Lest ye die ere ye know him, and curse and misname him; For who knows in what ruin of all hope he hideth, On what wings of the terror of darkness he rideth? And what is the joy of man’s life that ye blame him For his bliss grown a sword, and his rest grown a fire? Ye who tremble for death, or the death of desire, Pass about the cold winter-tide garden and ponder On the rose in his glory amidst of June’s fire, On the languor of noontide that gathered the thunder, On the morn and its freshness, the eve and its wonder: Ye may make it no more–shall Spring come to awaken? Live on, for Love liveth, and earth shall be shaken By the wind of his wings on the triumphing morning, When the dead, and their deeds that die not shall awaken, And the world’s tale shall sound in your trumpet of warning, And the sun smite the banner called Scorn of the Scorning, And dead pain ye shall trample, dead fruitless desire, As ye wend to pluck out the new world from the fire. Good Poems About Life #3 Life In A Love by Robert Browning Escape me? Never— Beloved! While I am I, and you are you, So long as the world contains us both, Me the loving and you the loth, While the one eludes, must the other pursue. My life is a fault at last, I fear— It seems too much like a fate, indeed! Though I do my best I shall scarce succeed— But what if I fail of my purpose here? It is but to keep the nerves at strain, To dry one’s eyes and laugh at a fall, And baffled, get up to begin again,— So the chase takes up one’s life, that’s all. While, look but once from your farthest bound, At me so deep in the dust and dark, No sooner the old hope drops to ground Than a new one, straight to the selfsame mark, I shape me— Ever Removed! I know what thou would’st tell Of Death, Time, Destiny – I have known it long, and know, too, well What it all means for me. O Life! by Walt Whitman O ME! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; Of the endless trains of the faithless—of cities fill’d with the foolish; Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I, and who more faithless?) Of eyes that vainly crave the light—of the objects mean—of the struggle ever renew’d; Of the poor results of all—of the plodding and sordid crowds I see around me; Of the empty and useless years of the rest—with the rest me intertwined; The question, O me! so sad, recurring—What good amid these, O me, O life? Answer. That you are here—that life exists, and identity; That the powerful play goes on, and you will contribute a verse. Pages of Poems About life and Death 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 My own Poems

The Lord of the Rings trilogy gave the world many of the most inspiring movie moments of all time. And in under three months, The Hobbit will give us even more inspiration. While we wait for the release of The Hobbit, let’s remember the best moment of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The Five Most Inspiring Moments of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy Sam Carries Frodo up Mount Doom Sam was always the real hero of Lord of the Rings, right? I mean, without Sam, Frodo would never have gotten anywhere. He either would have been eaten be Shelob or killed by Gollum. He certainly wouldn’t have made it through Mordor. And who saves the day once they’re actually atMountDoom? That would be Sam as he heroically carries his master and friend up the mountain side. Sam is one of the best characters of any movie or book ever, and this is his moment of glory. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_NmCh42hZM Theoden’s Speech It is, without doubt, one of the greatest speeches in the history of movies. There is so much determination, passion, fire and courage about Theoden that it is hard not to feel your blood boiling in your body watching it. “Arise! Arise, Riders of Theoden! Spears shall be shaken, shields shall be splintered! A sword day… a red day… ere the sun rises!” Your heart beats hard in your chest. You know you’ve just witnessed one of the greatest speeches in the history of film. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdnqZcmWk8U Boromir’s Death Death in movies is usually either sad, horrific or pointless. Not so with Boromir’s death. Here we have a death of honour an of grace. And in many ways, it isn’t so much a death as a rebirth, for Boromir’s character is felt more strongly in the movies after his death than before. He may not be on screen, but his absence echoes throughout the next six hours of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. What makes this death so stunning a scene is the audio. The score backing the scene is simply divine. The sound editing is masterful. And then you have Sean Bean. What an absolutely brilliant performance he puts in here. “I would have followed you. My brother. My captain. My king.” And the rest is silence. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBSLBl-64fk&playnext=1&list=PL0AE3E36AF4B95E56&feature=results_video 1 2

You Shall not Pass!!! Talk about vocals. When Sir Ian McKellen let loose the famous line “You shall not pass” his stunning vocal performance gave the world one of the best movie scenes and best movie ever. There’s a funny story about this scene, actually. When the shot was taken, the Balrog, of course, wasn’t visible. In its place was a tennis ball. So, when Ian McKellen and Gandalf shout “You shall not pass,” they’re actually yelling at a tennis ball. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VlaiBeLrntQ Sam’s Speech Theoden’s speech was about conflict and heroics. Sam’s speech is the complete opposite. It is the whisper of hope in a world wrapped in ruin. “Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when it does, it will shine out the clearer.” There is so much beauty about this speech. Amid the battle, the blood and the death of The Two Towers, we see a tiny yellow petal of spirit and hope rising in Frodo, Sam and, for a moment, even in Gollum. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEMdXhfO-Wk 1 2
Wisdom ceases to be wisdom when it becomes too proud to weep, too grave to laugh, and too selfish to seek other than itself. Khalil Gibran To be successful you have to be selfish, or else you never achieve. And once you get to your highest level, then you have to be unselfish. Stay reachable. Stay in touch. Don’t isolate. Michael Jordan The world is not fair, and often fools, cowards, liars and the selfish hide in high places. Bryant H. McGill A selfish man is a thief. Jerry Lewis A spirit of innovation is generally the result of a selfish temper and confined views. People will not look forward to posterity, who never look backward to their ancestors. Edmund Burke A woman asking “Am I good? Am I satisfied?” is extremely selfish. The less women fuss about themselves, the less they talk to other women, the more they try to please their husbands, the happier the marriage is going to be. Barbara Cartland All life demands struggle. Those who have everything given to them become lazy, selfish, and insensitive to the real values of life. The very striving and hard work that we so constantly try to avoid is the major building block in the person we are today. Pope Paul VI A man is called selfish not for pursuing his own good, but for neglecting his neighbor’s. Richard Whately Being selfish to me means that you have to look out for yourself and you don’t have to sacrifice. Herbie Mann When so many are lonely as seem to be lonely, it would be inexcusably selfish to be lonely alone. Ralph Waldo Emerson The great danger for family life, in the midst of any society whose idols are pleasure, comfort and independence, lies in the fact that people close their hearts and become selfish. Pope John Paul II It is not because the truth is too difficult to see that we make mistakes… we make mistakes because the easiest and most comfortable course for us is to seek insight where it accords with our emotions – especially selfish ones. Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn All life demands struggle. Those who have everything given to them become lazy, selfish, and insensitive to the real values of life. The very striving and hard work that we so constantly try to avoid is the major building block in the person we are today. Afraid of small talk in social situations? So are a lot of people. In fact, many of the world’s brightest minds, including top executives of Fortune 500 companies, Pulitzer Prize winning authors and even actors (you can take my word for that one). Yes, many of the brighter minds in society are terrible and the chatty chatty. They may be amazing at the big talk, but gosh darn it they just don’t have a hope in heck when in comes to the small talk.
So, what can these poor, mentally unable genius’ do to become as good at the small talk as they are at big talk?
The first thing to know about small talk is that it’s not really about talk at all. It’s really about establishing comfort. Your first marker on the road to good social communication skills, then, is this. . .
Communication and Social Skills are Not About words
At least not at first.
