Awe and Spirituality in The Fruit Bowl
Grab yourself an orange, apple or another item from your fruit bowl. But don’t eat it. Not yet at least. For fruit is about more than simply eating. Grab yourself a knife and dissect that piece of fruit you’re holding.
Inside, you’ll find an extremely complex form. Look at the carpal and juice sacs, the flavedo and albedo of an orange. Look how complex a form it is. Usually in life we fail to notice the complex beauty of nature. Normally we’d just gobble down that orange, but by just taking a moment to examine it and to appreciate the immense beauty and complexity of form of something we usually take for granted, we awaken ourselves to the beauty and awe of life.
You can eat that piece of fruit now, if you like, then follow me to our next destination.
