Continuing ARoleModel.com’s Countdown of the 10 Bravest Female Movie Characters Ever
2: Ripley, Alien: Amazingly, Ripley was originally written as a man before Sigourney Weaver was cast. Had Ripley stayed a man, the Alien franchise surely would never have gotten to where it is today, because of course, ultimately, the Alien films have been about feminine strength. Even the big bad evil queen alien is a queen, not a king. And if you want a message of female strength over male, what could be more apt than having a man give birth to an alien through his chest, from which he dies a painful death?
Ripley is one of the best female movie characters of all time and one of the bravest too. She’s also something of a mum on steroids. Not only does she risk life and limb to save Newt in Aliens, she even has a sensitive moment with the ugliest damn monster you’ve ever seen in Alien Resurection, just because she happens to be its mum. Ripley, you’ve earned yourself the “Best Mum” badge, and about a zillion fans to go along with it.
1: Sarah Connor, Terminator: All was swell for a young and naive Sarah Connor. She started Terminator as a party loving disco queen, but hey, wouldn’t ya know it, turns out she’s the mother of the saviour of mankind. It’s an honour, to be sure, being the mother of the guy who will save the whole of humanity, but it aint all riches and glory cause here comes Arie with an Oozie in his pocket.
Sarah Connor is the bravest female movie character of them all. Not only is she able to make a mental asylum look hot as she does chin ups. Not only does she obliterate man-killing machines while plugging her own movie, “You’re terminated.” She’s even able to raise a totally annoying cocky little brat to be the saviour of the mankind. Sarah Connor surely is the most ass kicking and bravest female movie character of them all.
