Welcome to ARolemodel.com’s countdown of the five best Wrestlers from the Eighties.
What makes a wrestler fit for this Top 10 Wrestlers list?
To be a great wrestler, and to be included in this list, a superstar must have great mic skills, a good look, excellent in-ring abilities and they must give something unique to wrestling, some characteristic that sets them apart from the pack.
Top 80s Wrestler #10: King Kong Bundy
When I think of Bundy I instinctively think of that famous RAW moment between Kane, The Rock and Hulk Hogan where The Rock impersonated Bundy. It was one of the funniest moments in WWE history.
King Kong Bundy was a heel from the word Go, though perhaps never more so than when he fought (and lost to) Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania 2.
King Kong Bundy’s main feud was with Andre the Giant. These two giants gave the wrestling universe some of its best matches of the 80s, a lot of which were finished with King Kong Bundy’s Bundy Splash. That’s 450 lbs coming of the tunrbuckle and slamming into your carcass. Ouch! That’s gotta hurt!
Top 80s Wrestler #9: Jesse “The Body” Ventura
Jesse Ventura has enjoyed a great career (the highlight of which certainly was not Conspiracy Theroy). Born James George Janos, Jessie “The Body” Ventura started wrestling in the mid-70s, turning pro in 1975.
A heel, Ventura has a lot of great rivalries, from Ivan Putski (who he arm wrestled) to Jimmy Snuka to Hulk Hogan.
Jessie Ventura was a man who said things like they were and this led him to many confrontations with Vince McMahon, though it would later lead him to taking a lucrative colour commentary position.
Top 80s Wrestler #8: The ultimate Warrior

The Ultimate Warrior is one of the most popular wrestlers of all time and with good reason. He looks amazing, both in his sheer physical appearance and in the bright and colourful costume he wore to the ring. He had an awesome character, with so much energy he may as well have been a beefed-up five year old on a sugar rush. And he had feuds with many of the best wrestlers ever including The Undertaker, Sgt. Sluaughter, Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage
Back in the 1980s, the Intercontinental Championship was actually a big deal. One of The Ultimate Warrior’s highlights came when he on that coveted title against The Honky Tonk Man in 1998 in a 31 second match.
Ultimate Warrior fought Hulk Hogan to become WWE World Champion in one of the most famous matches in history.
